Put the glasses
to see the future!
Industry 4.0 describes the organisation of production processes based on technology and devices autonomously communicating with each other along the value chain: a model of the ‘smart’ factory of the future where computer-driven systems monitor physical processes, create a virtual copy of the physical world and make decentralised decisions based on self-organisation mechanisms. Engineering and Management of Technological Systems, as part of the group of faculties representing Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering in UPB, is really concerned about the Industry 4.0 concept.
AVRENG Lab
It is well known that this German concept was conceived as The Fourth Industrial Revolution, due to the massive changes which occur in top industries of the XXI century. The concept is developed around manufacturing, and includes nine pillons:
1. Autonomous robots;
2. Augmented and Virtual Reality
3. Simulation and Optimization
4. Internet of Things
5. Cybersecurity
6. Additive Manufacturing
7. Big Data
8. Cloud Computing
9. System Integration.
Our lab is interested just in the highlighted topic (2), where we try to develop academic and industrial connections, create research infrastructure and train specific staff.
